Madrid. (EUROPA PRESS). - Manolo Otero, el cantante de los años setenta que susurraba, ha fallecido en el Hospital das Clínicas de Sao Paulo en Brasil a causa de un cáncer hepático que le habían detectado hacía poco tiempo.
El madrileño cosechó grandes éxitos en España y en Latinoamérica, donde actualmente tenía su residencia. Se ha apagado una de las voces más románticas de la España de los años 70.
El artista se encontraba ingresado en un hospital de Sao Paulo a causa de un cáncer de hígado que finalmente acabó con su vida el miércoles. La noticia la comunicó Evandro Segato, de Vibra Produçoes, la empresa que lo estaba representando en el país carioca.
Manolo Otero repartía su tiempo viviendo a caballo entre España y Latinoamérica aunque había fijado su residencia en Sao Paulo, Brasil, un país en el que el madrileño había cosechado grandes éxitos y en donde había obtenido varios discos de oro y platino.
El madrileño, hijo de un cantante de ópera, pronto empezaría a demostrar que el espectáculo corría por su venas.
Licenciado en Filosofía y Letras, comenzó su carrera artística en el mundo del teatro y no sería hasta 1975 cuando arrasó en el mundo de la música de la mano de su disco, Todo el tiempo del mundo que le catapultó a los primero puestos de las listas de ventas. Su talento cruzó el océano y Manolo Otero también cosechó muchísimos éxitos en países de habla hispana e incluso en Brasil.
El artista contrajo matrimonio en 1973 con la actriz Maria José Cantudo, hecho que haría que se convirtiera también en un personaje muy perseguido por la prensa rosa. Juntos tuvieron un hijo aunque finalmente la pareja se divorció en 1978.
